Born in Wadesboro, N.C., Scott received his B.S. in Political Science from East Carolina University

  
 

in  1998, where he served on The Board of Trustees and as Student Body President.  He completed law school at William Mitchell School of Law in 2002 and was admitted to the North Carolina State Bar in 2003.  Scott  was a proprietor of his own business and Vice President of National Sales for a retail business prior to attending law school.
